Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men create hard times.

Author…who is the author, exactly? 10-min out of my life searching on google brought talking heads on reddit, twitter, quora and other bored-parasites’ forums. Rephrased the request in various ways (“quote by”, “origin”, “author”), but it didn’t help. Yep, ever since google decided to become saintlier than the Pope, their product suffered…Turning to Bing. Immediately found the source on Goodreads:

G. Michael Hopf

“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.”

G. Michael Hopf, Those Who Remain

Er…and who is this philosopher, per Goodreads editors’ tag?

“G. Michael Hopf is a combat veteran of the Marine Corps, a former bodyguard for the Saudi Royal family, entrepreneur, and best-selling author.
He has studied the threat of EMP for 6 years and how to best prepare in the event. He wrote The New World series to illustrate the effects our nation would suffer if ever attacked by this type of weapon. […] He and his family currently reside in San Diego, CA.”

Ah, philosopher, indeed. Just the kind to be admired by autistic bubbleheads in the IT-kooks -populated sci-fi fan’ swamps.

How damaging can it be for the African-American minority, that the black urban culture is everything that the most virulent 19th century racists accused Negroes of being: hyper-violent, sex-obsessed, ignorant, brutal, and incapable of being civilized. And here the same elements of violence, sex-obsession, willful ignorance, and brute force, are all glorified in contemporary black urban culture, in the name of ‘keeping it real.’ The KKK, or what is left of them, hardly have to bother with burning crosses or organizing lynch mobs any more, not when the urban black population has taken over donning their own chains.

On 5 or 6 August 1942, German soldiers came to collect the 192 orphans (there is some debate about the actual number: it may have been 196), and about one dozen staff members, to transport them to Treblinka extermination camp. Korczak had been offered sanctuary on the “Aryan side” by Żegota but turned it down repeatedly, saying that he could not abandon his children. On 5 August he again refused offers of sanctuary, insisting that he would go with the children. He stayed with the children all the way until the end.

In a nutshell

The entire reason for the conflict in Donbas and the seizure of Crimea (conflicts that Merkel is allegedly attempting to mediate) were Ukraine’s attempt to move closer to Europe.

That is: (1) Ukraine takes “more Europe” seriously, and enters into an agreement with the EU that would open up trade with an eye on Ukraine joining the union in the future, (2) Putin takes exception to this, and initiates a series of actions that culminate with the ouster of Yanukovych followed by the seizure of Crimea, and a hot war in Donbas, (3) the US Senate attempts to penalize Russian actions by sanctions, and (4) the Europeans scream bloody murder at US intrusion into their policy domain.

In other words, when forced to put their money (and their gas) where their mouths are, the Europeans jettison “more Europe”. And then turn around and slag the US for taking them at their word.
