…from my CPM instructor.
She is a fake-blonde Philippina with host of abbreviations after her name. Out of those only RA (Registered Architect) holds any real weight. Her speech is jerky, full of parasitic street expressions (“like”, “you-know-what-I’m-saying”, “do the right thing”, “you be smart”, “whats-a-name”, &&&), and leaves the impression she does not quite understand the usage of certain words or idioms. She claims that apart from running a successful architecture practice she teaches full classes at NYU and NJ Institute of Technology. Now – to the few choicy quotes.
-LEED is another layer of money to be made
-When our buildings collapse they kill a lot of people. Not like doctors – they kill only one at a time.
-Who is a professional person? Who has license and gets paid for it!
-In Europe you’re a professional architect – they love you. Here not so much.
Why you got to be so cheap? Pay the architect to do a construction review, or you’re gotta go and have a lot of time to think over what did you do wrong, in the clink. And you’ll think of me!
-In Desgn-Build there is no policing, no adversarial relationship
