I’ll go first.
I’ve got a beautiful teakettle; it’s twice bigger than my old, it looks sharp, it’s heavy, made of good steel, it whistles and has deep royal-blue color insert, same color as the tiles in my kitchen – see? Besides, it’s a gift from Mom and Dad – nothing can beat that.
The old one was 12yo, I used to periodically forget it was on the stove and it got overboiled quite a few times..it was the time for it to go.
An Italian neighbor told me they have a tradition to throw away some household thing on New Year’s Eve, for good luck – so I parted ways with my old, sooted and burned kettle. Turned out I also followed a South-American tradition, unknowingly – so I expect this year to shower me with all kinds of [international] goodies now for my diligence.
