Tell me, do you find the comedian called Louis C K funny? Someone linked to his youtube appearances, so I looked…
He seems to me rather rude, bullyish and infantile. I do understand he cultivates that persona, but the persona he cultivates is quite unpleasant. Also, I abhor the practice of using your close family as butt of the jokes, especially vulgar jokes, and double that for jokes that involve sex with your wife or desirability of your children.
Besides, his material is simply not funny.
Not sure why you brought him up, so out of curiosity I looked at a you-tube video of him called “Shameless.” I agree with you in that his material is not funny. His face is very animated and I think with different material, he might be funny. However, that video I watched for 2 minutes was …yech.

Someone who is well read and is considered to have quite a refined taste wrote a post praising the guy exactly for his wit and humor. So I gave L CK a try.

I can’t disagree with any of those descriptors-I doubt he would disagree with that characterization, if pressed. Still, Louie is one of the best shows on television, IMO. To me, there are very few good comedians, and almost all of them have deep emotional scars and personality disorders. Deeply flawed human beings who use their psychic trauma to make people laugh-occasionally think. I’m sure Louie C,K. is an awful person in real-life, but as a comedian he is non pareil. Up there with Artie Lange and Dave Chapelle-before the latter went off the deep end.

Ah, so apparently you find his act funny. Tell me why? What’s so side-splitting in a notion that “you wouldn’t want to be white people in the future – and deservedly”? Or that his wife blowed him on purpose to get pregnant against his will? Or that he punched his dog in a face to make it swallow medicine?
Apart from disgusting message the delivery is dull, verbose, not to the point, there is no punchline, only ranting and raving. It’s not a good humor. There is no wit in it.
I can care less about his deep emotional scars or what is he as a person in life – I am discussing his work; or are you suggesting comedians job should be evaluated on them being exhibitionists?
Oh, and I find Chapelle absolutely repulsive.
