[K]nit!

December 1, 2011 by ETat

Yes, I know it’s [i], not [ea]. But if the marketing team of Toys’Я’Us can do it, so can I!

The winter is officially settled in, it’s time for domestic virtues and coziness- even if, in fact, we still have green lawns and some of the trees are not entirely leafless yet.

One longs for warm and fuzzy…if not feelings than practical material things: blankets, sweaters and scarfs. And some go beyond these trivialities (links to authors @pictures)

Several inventive souls ventured into adaptation of knitting for interior decoration. From wall murals to stools to rugs to lampshades, it is a wild loopy world out there!

But let’s not forget of our immediate needs, the closer to the skin the better. Or not, as the case might be – if that case is the penis-warmer (yes, you heard me) and you are anything like Johnny Virgil. What, you’ve never seen one?

Here is it, ready for your ballpark (sorry) estimates.

Or maybe you prefer to read about estimates of others…like Johnny and his wife:

“This lady sounds like she really wants one, but I’m not sure I have time to make it,” she said. “Plus I’d have to find a pattern.”
“If you make it, I’ll model the prototype for you, ” I said. “But you may have to size the final product up a bit.” She laughed and said, “What do you think I should I tell her?” [...]
If you Google “willy warmer” or “penis warmer”,” you will see hundreds of different types of warmers in all sizes and colors. You may even see some that are being modeled by their very proud owners if your google safe-search isn’t turned on. (Trust me. Leave it on.)”

The white and red penis-warmer is adorable :). I have heard what you can them in the displays of some stores :)

Get the needles and go ahead! Then show us the end result…with the recipient modeling it

hehe. Great idea for Xmas :)

Sure thing! Sew on some jingle bells, too

I like the yarn on chair legs-at least, I think that’s what it is. It conjures up images of calculating knitting and crochet needles stalking their owners en masse, then taking their bloody revenge. Maybe I just have a strange imagination.

But needles like to knit, Gerard! What would they have their revenge for?
AT 2:57 I’d think that was more like a half-conscious nightmare talking

Probably. I don’t know why, but I hardly ever dream any more-and when I do, it dissipates almost immediately upon waking.

Same here. Even if I wake up with clear idea of the just-seen dream, it disappears by the time I shuffle out of bedroom.

I’ve seen that last item more commonly referred to as a “willy warmer.” The one pictured there looks crocheted rather than knitted to me. And yes, there are a number of patterns for them out there.

No, I’ve never made one. I think they fall into the realm of gag gifts…or at least I would hope they would. (My existence is rather nun-like, so I am not familiar with many of the quirks of human sexual behavior) Then again, I’ve never known any “true” Scotsmen….

Looks crocheted to me, too – but I simply copied the picture from JV’ blog and didn’t risk searching the murky net waters for knitted..er…item.

Ingenuity of devoted knitters amaze me.
