Yesterday…

They remind me of The Really Terrible Orchestra

This is still my favorite truly awful cover though:

    The Final Countdown

      Not even close, G.!
I presume these are professionals; they are actually in the Navy – “serving” in the choir for 30-40 years of their Navy career.

      Seamen, aha. And seawomen.

      [chortle chortle]

It’s the stentorian tone in his delivery that’s so interesting. It’s almost as if he thinks that Pavarotti would have done a better job with this material than Paul McCartney. Then again, I suppose pop music isn’t the best medium for a naval orchestra.

I had a debate with a friend of mine about Dolores O’Riordan’s attempt to sing some hymns at The Vatican several years ago.

    Panis Angelicus

In my opinion, trying to get a very good rock singer to perform an extremely difficult aria is pointless, especially when she doesn’t have the classical training for it. It would be the equivalent of asking Denyce Graves-or some other noted mezzo-soprano-to perform “Zombie” or another other rock song that’s completely out of her vocal range/repertoire

It’s only part of the problem, Gerard.
